OUR STORY
For years, the only production breweries were along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The founders of Yalobusha Brewing Company wanted to change that, and give a locally brewed beer to the north Mississippi hill country and beyond. So when fate had our managing partner Andy be introduced to Amos, our first brewer, the rest is history! We quickly learned about the beautifully restored Hendrick’s Machine Shop building in downtown Water Valley and realized after spending only a few hours in the building that we had found the perfect venue for our brewery.
The next stroke of luck was luring our head brewer, Tony Balzola, away from Portland, Oregon where he had been a head brewer with McMenamin’s Brewing for the last 13 years. Tony brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to our team and we are so thrilled that he and his wife decided to join us here in Mississippi.
Our goals at Yalobusha Brewing are to brew consistent, high quality beers that show off what we can do as brewers, but also introduce new styles of beer that are under represented here in our state and the greater southern states area.
Please enjoy this website and explore, through the tabs at the top of the page, what we have to offer and also some wonderful pictures of our building throughout history. The Hendrick’s Machine Shop is listed on the National Registry of Historics Places.
